Located in the far northwest corner of the city of Calgary is the community of Rocky Ridge. Rocky Ridge is one of Calgary’s newer communities, established in 1998. Homes in Rocky Ridge offer wonderful views of the Rocky Mountains to the west and the Bow River Valley to the south. Rocky Ridge is a community with a bright future. Located right along the Crowfoot Trail, it offers quick access to the Royal Oak shopping centre, as well as the Crowfoot shopping centre, and may soon be the site of a new C-Train LRT station. Though Rocky Ridge is one of the northernmost communities in the city, it is still easy to reach the downtown core by using the Crowfoot LRT or Crowfoot Trail.
Most of the homes for sale in Rocky Ridge are single family dwellings, and the community does target the needs of young families. Those living in Rocky Ridge believe in a strong sense of community, and though the community association does not have an official building, it is very active in advocating the rights of its residents as evidenced by the fact that Rocky Ridge began to receive bus service before many of the older, neighboring communities.
There is a large environmental reserve located within Rocky Ridge, and there are plenty of pathways winding among the large green space for those desiring a retreat from urban living, or simply looking to get more exercise. Residents of Rocky Ridge often find their homes and pathways touched up by picturesque ponds and some of the environmentally sensitive wetlands that have been preserved in the surrounding area.
While a community so far to the north might seem remote or disconnected from the city at large, this simply isn’t true. Those looking to involve themselves in the economic and financial opportunities downtown will still be facing a reasonable commute from Rocky Ridge. The price of a home in Rocky Ridge might start at around $300,000, but there are also homes for as much as $3,000,000 depending on your needs or desires.
